W wi\u0119kszo\u015bci s\u0105 to drobne narz\u0119dzia krzemienne znajdowane w trakcie bada\u0144 powierzchniowych lub wykopalisk prowadzonych na stanowiskach z czas\u00f3w p\u00f3\u017aniejszych. Ma d\u0142ugo\u015b\u0107 11,4 cm, szeroko\u015b\u0107 4,4 cm i grubo\u015b\u0107 3,7 cm; wa\u017cy 320 g. Amfibolity cechuj\u0105 si\u0119 twardo\u015bci\u0105, dlatego w\u0142a\u015bnie by\u0142y wykorzystywane w epoce kamienia do wyrobu siekier. S\u0105 to ska\u0142y metamorficzne, powsta\u0142e ze ska\u0142 osadowych i magmowych\u00a0w warunkach wysokiego ci\u015bnienia i du\u017cej temperatury. Wyniki bada\u0144 pozwalaj\u0105 okre\u015bli\u0107, z jakiej ska\u0142y wykonano dane narz\u0119dzie i jakie s\u0105 jego w\u0142a\u015bciwo\u015bci. Gros kamieni wyst\u0119puj\u0105cych na Pomorzu zosta\u0142o przyniesione przez l\u0105dol\u00f3d skandynawski.<\/p><p>Z przeprowadzonych bada\u0144 wynika, \u017ce dawni mieszka\u0144cy nadmorskich osad bardzo staranie dobierali surowce do wyrobu narz\u0119dzi. Siekiery wykonywali ze ska\u0142 twardych, takich jak diabazy czy amfibolity, a z piaskowc\u00f3w robili ma\u0142e siekierki do obr\u00f3bki bursztynu.<\/p><p>Narz\u0119dzia kamienne wytwarzali w \u015bci\u015ble wydzielonych cz\u0119\u015bciach osad. W pierwszej fazie obr\u00f3bki obt\u0142ukiwali kamie\u0144, aby uzyska\u0107 okre\u015blony kszta\u0142t. W przypadku siekiery druga faza polega\u0142a na nadaniu ostatecznej formy na odpowiednio przygotowanych p\u0142ytach. P\u0142yty do szlifowania by\u0142y wykonane najcz\u0119\u015bciej z piaskowca (u\u017cywano te\u017c p\u0142yt szlifierskich z twardszych ska\u0142, na przyk\u0142ad z granitoid\u00f3w).
