The historic granary

The building dates from the 16th century, although it was rebuilt many times over the following centuries. Reconstructed structural elements, including posts, ceiling beams and noticeably sloping floors, recall its original function as a granary.

The name “Blue Lamb” first appears in sources from 1631, originally written in German as “Blaue Lamm”.

After Soviet forces bombed Gdańsk in 1945, the Blue Lamb was the only historic warehouse on Granary Island to retain both its façade and its interior, including its timber framing and ceiling structure.
